Job Description

This is a newly created position designed for an ambitious HR leader looking to make a direct impact on business growth. Reporting directly to the Head of Business, you will step away from traditional corporate constraints to build the entire regional HR function from scratch. They are looking for a mature, forward-thinking leader who can sit with the owner to align human capital decisions with strategic business goals, while staying grounded enough to manage daily operations.In this role, you will lead complex transformations in Hong Kong, using your critical thinking to challenge assumptions and drive practical change. Your time will be split between strategic business partnering, close collaboration with headquarter team in mainland China, and hands-on recruitment to expand local corporate office. This opportunity is ideal for candidates who want to move into a highly visible role with direct access to top leadership, this position offers an exceptional career step up with significant long-term growth potential. You will also occasionally travel alongside the business owner to better understand regional operations.Key responsibilities:

  • Establish, integrate, and manage new Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and digital workflows to support regional growth.
  • Standardize and rewrite the employee handbook and regional HR policies to ensure local compliance and legal alignment in Hong Kong.
  • Create and execute a structured framework for the end-to-end employee lifecycle, including onboarding, performance tracking, and retention.
  • Lead and execute talent acquisition strategies to build and scale the corporate functions and back-office teams in Hong Kong.
  • Partner closely with the corporate HR team at the mainland China headquarters to align regional initiatives with group-level policies.
  • Manage routine human resources tasks, including monthly payroll review, benefits administration, employee relations, and office compliance.

The Successful Applicant

  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive human resources experience, demonstrating a well-rounded background across both strategic HR business partnering and operational excellence.
  • Prior experience working within Chinese-based corporations or mainland headquartered businesses is a must, demonstrating an expert ability to successfully navigate a Chinese-centric corporate culture and its distinct organizational dynamics. Open to candidates with industry background coming from Chinese banks and financial institutions.
  • Proven experience acting as a commercial partner to business owners, founders, or C-suite executives, with the business acumen required to align human capital initiatives directly with commercial objectives.
  • Demonstrated success in leading complex corporate transformation projects, system integration, or HR setups within Hong Kong or wider Greater China markets.
  • Strong critical thinking, resilient and objective, with the ability to maintain strategic direction and not be easily swayed by external pressures.
  • A highly hands-on approach with a willingness to manage administrative and operational tasks (such as direct recruitment and policy drafting) alongside executive advisory duties.
  • High flexibility and willingness to undertake occasional regional travel alongside the Business Owner for operational reviews and corporate alignment.
  • Proven capacity to thrive in a fluid, growing environment; demonstrating high emotional intelligence and adaptability.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to converse professionally in English, Mandarin and Cantonese
  • Candidates with less experience will be considered as HR Manager
