Job Description

As a Market Operations Director, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver senior technical and non‑technical support to market participants-including FCMs, clearing banks, and industry partners-on market access and platform usage.
  • Monitor system integrity and maintain control of the trading environment.
  • Maintain listed event contracts and ensure accurate product specifications, trading parameters, and settlement terms.
  • Analyze logs and packet captures to diagnose latency or execution issues.
  • Lead daily clearing and settlement processes, including reconciliations, cash movements, and exception management.
  • Manage the full clearing lifecycle: positions, collateral, and delivery.
  • Design and maintain automation scripts to streamline operations.
  • Maintain and improve user-facing technical documentation (e.g., FIX specs, connectivity guides).
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on FIX Protocol, supporting certifications and new connections.
  • Coordinate user feedback and escalate critical system issues to engineering teams.
  • Collaborate closely with Technology Operations, Product, Sales, QA, Compliance, and Regulatory teams.
  • Oversee fulfillment of daily operational and control procedures

The Successful Applicant

A successful Market Operations Director should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, computer science, math, information systems, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years in a technically focused operations or systems engineering role within a derivatives exchange, clearing house, market maker, or FCM.
  • Strong understanding of electronic trading systems, reference data, matching engines, and market connectivity.
  • Fluency in FIX Protocol and FIX log interpretation.
  • Deep practitioner knowledge of derivatives trading, clearing, settlement, margining, and collateral management.
  • Familiarity with CFTC regulations for DCMs and DCOs.
  • Ability to independently research and resolve complex operational issues.
  • Experience with trade management and reconciliation systems (e.g., GMI, Calypso, SmartStream, TT).
  • Basic Python skills for scripting and process automation.
  • Proficiency using Python or SQL to analyze large datasets.
