About Our Client

Our client is a leading apparel manufacturer with a strong global presence, known for delivering high-quality products to international brands. To support continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Technical Development Manager to lead a sizeable development team and drive technical excellence across product categories.

Job Description

  • Manage the end-to-end development process from prototype to TOP samples, ensuring consistency in quality, fit, and workmanship
  • Monitor development timelines closely to support on-time commercialisation
  • Provide hands-on guidance on garment construction, pattern, and material performance
  • Identify and resolve development issues efficiently, balancing technical requirements with production constraints
  • Work closely with merchandising, costing, and production teams to align development progress with business needs
  • Flag risks early and coordinate solutions to minimise delays or cost impact
  • Support the coordination of a large development team, ensuring clear communication and efficient workflow across multiple sites
  • Act as a key contact for brand-side development teams on technical matters, communicating sample status and feasibility clearly
  • Ensure development activities meet required brand standards, quality expectations, and sustainability guidelines
  • Identify practical opportunities to improve development efficiency and reduce lead times
  • Track and report development progress, highlighting key issues and improvement actions to management

The Successful Applicant

  • Degree in Textile Engineering, Fashion, or a related discipline
  • 6+ years of experience in apparel development, preferably in woven garments, outerwear, or technical products
  • Solid understanding of garment construction, fit, pattern-making, and fabric performance
  • Exposure to advanced techniques (e.g. bonding, laser cutting, seam construction) is an advantage
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and multiple production sites
  • Strong problem-solving ability with a practical and hands-on approach
  • Good communication skills, able to work with both internal teams and overseas clients
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin
  • Willing to be based in a factory environment in China
