As a Fabric Technology Manager, you will oversee fabric development and sourcing to ensure top-quality materials for products. This role requires expertise in the retail industry and a strong understanding of procurement and supply chain processes.

Job Description

  • Lead end-to-end fabric technical development, covering fibre, yarn, fabric construction, finishing, and performance engineering
  • Conduct deep-dive fabric risk assessments during development stage, proactively identifying issues related to construction, finishing processes, and bulk scalability
  • Provide technical approval for fabrics, ensuring readiness for bulk production in terms of performance, stability, and manufacturability
  • Partner closely with mills to optimise weaving/knitting parameters, dyeing & finishing processes, and fabric specifications
  • Analyse and resolve bulk production issues including shade variation, skewing, shrinkage, pilling, strength, and dimensional stability through root cause investigation
  • Define and benchmark fabric performance standards, including hand feel, durability, appearance retention, and functional properties
  • Lead fabric testing strategy, including Pre-CIQ, physical/chemical testing, and lab-to-bulk correlation
  • Drive industrialisation of fabrics, ensuring consistency from development swatches to mass production
  • Work closely with suppliers to improve process capability, QA systems, and production controls at mill level
  • Champion value engineering initiatives, balancing cost, performance, and manufacturability
  • Lead technical input into sustainable material transitions, including organic, recycled, and certified fibres, ensuring no compromise on fabric performance
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Development, QA, Sourcing, and Supply Chain to align on fabric specifications and technical standards

The Successful Applicant

  • Degree in Textile Engineering, Fabric Technology, or related discipline
  • Strong hands-on experience in fabric engineering across both woven and knit categories
  • Deep technical knowledge of yarn types, fabric constructions, and finishing techniques
  • Proven track record in fabric development, testing, and bulk production troubleshooting
  • Strong understanding of fabric performance testing standards
  • Experience working directly with fabric mills and dye houses across Asia
  • Familiar with lab testing, Pre-CIQ requirements, and chemical compliance frameworks
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct root cause analysis at process level
  • Experience in fabric industrialisation and bulk risk mitigation
  • Exposure to sustainable textile innovations is a strong advantage
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
