Job Description

As a Backend Software Engineer, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and maintain backend applications that support business systems and digital services.
  • Build and manage APIs that enable secure and reliable data exchange between applications.
  • Improve API performance, availability and maintainability to support consistent service delivery.
  • Set up and maintain DevOps workflows to support efficient software development and deployment.
  • Automate build, testing and deployment activities to improve release consistency.
  • Monitor backend services and investigate technical issues to maintain system reliability.
  • Work with technology colleagues to clarify technical needs and deliver suitable backend solutions.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation for backend services, APIs and deployment processes.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Backend Software Engineer should have:

  • Practical ability to develop and maintain backend software applications.
  • Experience building, integrating and maintaining APIs.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices for software delivery and deployment.
  • Ability to automate development, testing and deployment workflows.
  • Ability to investigate backend service issues and improve system reliability.
  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation for software and deployment processes
