As part of its continued expansion, the firm is looking to hire an experienced China A-Share Portfolio Manager to manage a dedicated discretionary mandate for their large overseas sovereign institutional client.

About Our Client

  • Manage a China A-share equity portfolio with assets of approximately RMB 30 million on behalf of an external institutional client.
  • Develop and implement investment strategies focused on mainland China equities.
  • Generate alpha through bottom-up stock selection, fundamental research, and active portfolio construction.
  • Conduct in-depth company analysis, financial modelling, valuation, and earnings forecasting.
  • Monitor portfolio risk exposures and ensure compliance with investment guidelines and mandates.
  • Present investment recommendations, performance attribution, and market outlook to internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Work closely with analysts and other investment professionals to identify investment opportunities.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of macroeconomic developments, industry trends, and regulatory changes impacting the China market.

Job Description

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 5+ years of portfolio management experience, with direct responsibility for China A-share investments.
  • Proven track record managing a discretionary equity portfolio, ideally with AUM ranging from RMB 20-100 million.
  • Experience gained from a leading Chinese mutual fund, asset management company, securities firm, or institutional investment platform.
  • Strong investment framework with demonstrated ability to generate consistent risk-adjusted returns.
  • Solid fundamental research and financial modelling capabilities.
  • Good understanding of portfolio construction, risk management, and performance attribution.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate investment views to institutional clients.
  • Familiarity with institutional mandates, sovereign wealth fund clients, or large asset owners would be advantageous.
  • Fluent Mandarin and professional English communication skills.

The Successful Applicant

  • Currently serving as, or recently promoted to, a Portfolio Manager managing a small-to-mid-sized China equity strategy.
  • Demonstrated alpha generation and outperformance against relevant A-share benchmarks.
  • Strong network across the China buy-side ecosystem.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to contribute to the growth of the broader investment platform
