We are seeking an experienced Macro Research Associate to join a growing institutional investment platform in Hong Kong. The role will work closely with the CIO on macroeconomic research, investment strategy development, portfolio construction, and investor communications. The successful candidate will play a key role in generating actionable macro views across global markets and supporting the management of diversified multi-asset portfolios.

Job Description

  • Conduct in-depth macroeconomic research across key market drivers including economic growth, inflation, monetary policy, and liquidity conditions, covering both China and global markets.
  • Develop, monitor, and enhance macro investment frameworks and signals that support asset allocation decisions across fixed income, equities, commodities, and other asset classes.
  • Partner with the CIO in portfolio construction, asset allocation, and risk budgeting processes to ensure portfolio positioning remains aligned with macroeconomic views and investment objectives.
  • Produce high-quality research publications, including monthly market commentaries, quarterly outlook reports, thematic research papers, and investor presentation materials.
  • Monitor global economic developments, central bank policies, and market trends to identify investment opportunities and risks.
  • Support investor meetings, fundraising activities, and client communications through the presentation of investment views and market insights.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in macro research, strategy, asset allocation, portfolio management, institutional sales, or investment consulting within an asset manager, securities firm, investment bank, hedge fund, or institutional investment platform.
  • Strong understanding of macroeconomics, financial markets, cross-asset investing, and portfolio construction.
  • Solid knowledge of China's onshore securities brokerage industry, including market structure, regulatory framework, institutional client landscape, trading practices, and research ecosystem.
  • Established relationships with Mainland securities firms, institutional sales teams, research departments, wealth management platforms, or institutional investors will be highly advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of China's capital markets, including A-share equities, fixed income, wealth management products, and related investment channels.
  • Demonstrated ability to convert macroeconomic and market insights into actionable investment recommendations.
  • Eligible to satisfy SFC Responsible Officer competency requirements.
  • Native or fluent Mandarin and English required.
