About Our Client

Our client, a leading financial institution in Hong Kong, is seeking an experienced Operational Risk professional to join the Operations Division as part of the 1.5 Line of Defense. This role plays a key part in strengthening the risk culture, overseeing operational‑risk controls, and supporting the business in effective risk management.

Job Description

As an AVP, Operations Risk and Governance, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee operational risk and governance activities across the Risk & Compliance department.
  • Maintain risk governance processes that support clear accountability and consistent oversight.
  • Review operational risk matters and provide clear updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate risk assessments to identify operational issues and support timely follow-up actions.
  • Maintain governance records and documentation to support accurate reporting and decision-making.
  • Prepare operational risk reports and governance materials for internal review.
  • Work with relevant teams to track agreed risk actions and maintain progress visibility.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of operational risk and governance practices.

The Successful Applicant

A successful AVP, Operations Risk and Governance should have:

  • 8+ years of experience in Operational Risk, Enterprise Risk, or relevant risk‑control functions within the financial services or banking industry.
  • Experience in a 1.5 Line of Defense or risk advisory role strongly preferred.
  • Looking for candidates with operational risk experience for their operations department
  • Solid understanding of operational risk frameworks, risk assessment methodologies, and internal control principles.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills; able to challenge constructively and communicate risk concepts clearly.
  • Proactive, analytical, and able to operate independently.
