Job Description



  • SSL Carrier Strategy & Procurement
    • Plan, negotiate, and manage all service contracts with steamship line (SSL) carriers.
    • Issue RFQs and manage bid processes for point-to-point rates; maintain visibility on outstanding bids.
    • Maintain a robust carrier database, tracking contracts, performance metrics, and market positioning.


  • Market Intelligence & Rate Management
    • Continuously monitor ocean freight market rates and update internal stakeholders on trends.
    • Prepare weekly market rate and space availability updates; generate ad hoc reports as needed.


  • Carrier & Origin Port Relations
    • Strengthen relationships with SSL carriers' origin offices and booking service agents.
    • Ensure carriers fulfill their vessel space commitments (MQC), provide necessary equipment, and avoid rollings (FTNs).


  • Routing Oversight & Booking Governance
    • Oversee routing decisions and booking volume to optimize rate and space utilization.
    • Escalate and resolve booking or equipment issues to maintain service reliability.


  • Project & Contract Management
    • Lead strategic projects related to ocean product enhancements and process improvements.
    • Maintain program ownership and follow-up on related initiatives as assigned.



The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years in ocean freight forwarding or carrier pricing within the Asia region
  • Demonstrated expertise in ocean freight products, carrier strategies, and negotiation.
  • Proficiency in English; Mandarin or Cantonese is a strong plus.
  • Distinguished leadership, influencing and analytical skills, alongside a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.
