This is one of the A-rated (S&P) Marine Cargo Insurance companies in Hong Kong, and they are seeking a junior candidate to join their team as a Business Development Officer.

Job Description

Role Overview:



  • Quotations and Underwriting: Actively manage the underwriting process and provide timely quotations to local agents and brokers focused on property and casualty insurance.


  • Intermediary Relations: Establish and strengthen relationships with intermediaries to promote business growth and facilitate the renewal process.


  • Market Research: Conduct regular visits to intermediaries to gain a deeper understanding of market dynamics and customer preferences.


  • Operational Support: Assist the business team with tasks such as quotation preparation, report generation, and data management.


  • Project Engagement: Participate in diverse projects as they arise to support overall business objectives.

The Successful Applicant

Ideal Candidate Profile:



  • Education: University graduate or higher.


  • Professional Qualifications: Hold a recognized insurance qualification, such as ANZIIF or CII, and meet the individual agent qualification requirements set by the IA.


  • Experience: At least 5 years of relevant experience in the general insurance industry.


  • Product Knowledge: Strong understanding of both commercial and personal insurance products.


  • Language Skills: Excellent proficiency in spoken and written English and Cantonese.


  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; familiarity with the AS400 system is a plus.


  • Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.


  • Team Player: Proven track record of being a collaborative team member.


  • Motivation and Detail Orientation: Self-motivated with a keen eye for detail.


  • Independence: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
