Job Description

  • Lead and manage the mechanical engineering team responsible for the development and introduction of new products, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to translate product requirements into robust mechanical designs.
  • Drive the NPI process, including project planning, resource allocation, risk management, and execution, to ensure successful product launches and meet customer expectations.
  • Oversee the design and development of mechanical components and systems, utilizing engineering analysis, simulation tools, and best practices to optimize product performance and manufacturability.
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to the mechanical engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies throughout the NPI process.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure efficient and cost-effective manufacturing processes and resolve any technical issues that may arise during production.
  • Conduct design reviews, evaluate prototypes, and perform validation testing to ensure product reliability, performance, and compliance with specifications.
  • Monitor project progress, track key performance indicators, and provide regular updates to senior management, highlighting any risks, issues, or opportunities for improvement.
  • Drive and champion design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles to optimize production efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in mechanical engineering leadership roles
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, and materials selection.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Pro/ENGINEER) and engineering analysis tools.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results within specified timelines and budgets.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing engineering team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems, lean manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and adapt to changing priorities.
