About Our Client

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal and Compliance Counsel to join our dynamic team. This regional role involves significant exposure to China and APAC and requires a deep understanding of legal, compliance, including ethics, and company secretarial work.

Job Description

  • Legal Support: Provide expert legal advice and support to management on a wide range of legal and regulatory issues.
  • Compliance Management: Develop, implement, and monitor compliance programs to ensure adherence to laws, regulations, and internal policies, with a focus on ethical standards.
  • Contract Review: Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and internal policies to ensure legal compliance and mitigate risks.
  • Regulatory Monitoring: Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations, particularly those affecting operations in China, and advise the company accordingly.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential legal risks and develop preventive measures to protect the company from legal liabilities.
  • Training: Conduct training sessions for staff on legal matters, compliance requirements, and ethical standards.
  • Ethics Program: Design and implement ethics programs to promote a culture of integrity and ethical behavior within the organization.
  • Litigation Management: Represent the company in legal proceedings and liaise with external legal counsel as needed.
  • Company Secretarial: Ensure the company complies with statutory and regulatory requirements, including maintaining statutory books and records.

The Successful Applicant

  • Qualified lawyer with 8+ PQE
  • Proven experience as a legal counsel in a business environment, with significant exposure to China and regional responsibilities. Experience in company secretarial work is highly desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of corporate law, compliance, ethics, and company secretarial practices. Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Chinese and English is highly desirable.
