Job Description

The Head of HR is a key leadership role responsible for driving a more commercial, business‑relevant HR function within the organisation. Covering a workforce of approximately 600+ employees across Hong Kong and Macau, this role operates in a frontline‑heavy, fast‑moving retail environment and requires a highly hands‑on HR leader who is comfortable working within a lean structure. Reporting directly to the Business Head and Regional HR Director, you will take ownership of the full employee lifecycle while significantly strengthening HR capability beyond traditional HR operations. The current HR team is committed and hardworking, with solid experience in recruitment, payroll, and HR operations, however, the business now requires a more experienced HR leader to elevate HR's impact in areas such as compensation and benefits, sales incentive design, employee relations, engagement, internal communications, and HR business partnering.

A critical priority of this role is the review, redesign, and integration of frontline sales incentive schemes. The organisation currently operates multiple incentive arrangements across different store formats, and the Head of HR will be expected to provide clear recommendations on rationalising these schemes into a small number of effective, scalable models. This includes advising the leadership team on scheme design, calculation logic, governance, and how incentive structures can be used as a practical tool to drive motivation, passion, sales behaviour, and business development. The role requires both conceptual strength and the ability to translate incentive frameworks into simple, transparent communication for frontline employees. The position also carries significant responsibility for frontline employee relations and HR business partnering. The business environment is dynamic, often requiring rapid hiring for new sites, large‑scale recruitment within tight timelines, workforce restructuring and redeployment. The Head of HR must be highly experienced in managing these situations, balancing compliance with local labour laws while maintaining operational agility and commercial sensitivity. Employee engagement and internal communication form another core component of the role.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will be an experienced, all‑round HR leader with a strong background in retail, FMCG, catering, hospitality or other manpower‑intensive environments. You will be degree qualified with a minimum of 15 years of relative work experience, and bring solid expertise in compensation and benefits, performance management and sales incentive scheme design, together with proven experience handling complex frontline employee relations. The role requires a commercial, HRBP‑style mindset, the confidence to challenge stakeholders constructively, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast‑moving, ambiguous environment. Candidates must be comfortable working in a small, flat HR team and be highly hands‑on, pragmatic and resilient, with the drive and energy to lead change, improve engagement, and act as a trusted advisor to the business. Cantonese and English language skills is essential.
