About Our Client
Our client is a well established education group with an outstanding reputation for excellence, quality and passion. Reporting to the Managing Director, this role will focus on managing all aspects of finance for the Hong Kong business.
Job Description
Reporting to the Managing Director, this role will include:
Accounting and Controls:
- Acting as the Local Controller for Hong Kong
- Ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of all financial statements in accordance internal Policies and Controls. This includes submission of the consolidated P&L and Balance Sheet; as well as timely and accurate production of statutory and internal financial reports; GM Reports, Tax Packages, etc
- Ensuring that appropriate systems and internal controls are implemented and maintained
- Ensuring account reconciliations are prepared monthly
- Managing financial risk and ensure adequate provisions are recorded
- Ensuring tax returns are filed timely
- Ensure Payroll for all employees and associates is accurate
Business Finance:
- Oversee annual budgets and monthly forecasts and ensure accurate and timely information is provided
- Supports the Hong Kong MD and leadership team to help drive the business strategy, drive commercial decisions, identify insights and actions, and help identify process improvements across the organization
- Partner with the Hong Kong MD to drive sustainable profitable growth
- Ensure expenses are managed in line with revenues and recommend action plan for any deviation from budget / targets
- Prepare Operations Review documents / and other management presentations
Lease Management: review of leases with focus on the long term - Risk Management: Capture items for quarterly risk report, assess reserves required (if applicable) with adequate support for analysis, and implement required mitigating actions (audit risks, employee related risks, lawsuit, etc)
- Manage Accounts Receivable and keep DSO days within target levels
- Participate in any special projects as assigned, inclusive of working on any potential merger & acquisitions
The Successful Applicant
To quality for this role, you should have:
- A degree in finance or business combined with an internationally recognised accounting qualification (CA, CPA, CIMA)
- 12+ in finance with experience as a financial controller or finance director with a small to medium sized enterprise
- Proven finance skills in both accounting and business finance
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence
- Experience dealing with local audit and tax professionals
- Prior experience managing a small/medium sized finance team
- A great work ethic and positive attitude
- Excellent English language skills - Cantonese would be a plus
