Job Description

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for food packaging materials (e.g., plastics, paper, biodegradable materials, metal).
  • Identify and evaluate suppliers, primarily in Asia and the EU, to ensure quality, cost, and sustainability standards.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to optimize value and secure reliable supply chains.
  • Ensure all sourced packaging complies with EU regulations (e.g., EU 1935/2004, food contact materials standards) and sustainability goals.
  • Collaborate with R&D, quality assurance, and logistics teams to align sourcing with product requirements and delivery schedules.
  • Monitor market trends, material innovations, and regulatory changes in food packaging to inform sourcing decisions.
  • Manage supplier relationships, conduct performance reviews, and resolve supply chain issues.
  • Prepare reports on sourcing performance, cost savings, and sustainability metrics for management.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Food Science, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in sourcing or procurement, ideally in packaging or related industries.
  • Strong knowledge of packaging materials, EU food safety regulations, and sustainable packaging trends.
  • Proven negotiation and contract management skills with global suppliers, especially in Asia.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in Mandarin, German, or other relevant languages is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
