About Our Client
Our client is a key international player in the apparel industry with a diverse clientele and global outreach. They provide one-stop solution for clients by conducting trend analysis, sales & merchandising consulting, product development and logistic support.
They are looking to hire a General Sales Manager to help manage and expand their business from a regional perspective with a focus on the Asia-Pacific market. This is an exciting role suitable for entrepreneurial candidates with a strong background in the apparel/textile industry.
Reporting to the Global Vice President of Sales, you will be based in Hong Kong and will lead a team of sales force across the region - from monitoring sales performance, setting objectives, recruiting to providing guidance and development. You will help to build and promote strong, long lasting customer relationships by partnering with them to understand their needs. You will collaborate between local Asian based buying offices and factories, and the overseas brands for which they produce, working closely with the groups salespeople around the world in support of Asian based production. You will continue to grow the group's Asia presence by conducting market analysis and utilising consumer insights to develop territorial sales strategies, with an understanding on cultural differences and purchasing offices' buying habits to model the correct sales behaviour and to solve customer problems when they arise.
Building strong relationships with all business partners in each market is another key responsibility for this position. This requires a solid understanding of clients' business needs in order to support their Asian production. You will also travel occasionally to other Asian offices to meet with clients in person for factory visits and presentations.
The Successful Applicant
The successful candidate must have a minimum of 8 years of experience in a sales-related managerial position for an international textile or apparel/trims group with good knowledge of woven and non-woven fabrics. As a leader for this market, you must have the ability to strategically identify business opportunities and lead sales cycle from planning to completion.
You must also be a self-starter with strong sales management, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Being proactive and creative would be critical for this position. Fluency in English and Cantonese are required, an additional Asian language would be advantageous.
