The Chief/ Principal Engineer will be pivotal in architecting and developing trading systems for "Equities Products" Actively engaging in hands-on development and managing a small team of global team of Java Developers; This role requires close collaboration with quantitative Traders, Business Investors, Software Engineers and Product teams to create a highly return, high-performance, low-latency trading solutions.

About Our Client

Our client, a leading global Trade Finance bank, is currently seeking a Chief/ Principal Engineer to be stationed in Guangzhou, China-a key financial business district. This onsite role requires working with the major development team and taking ownership of building their trading platform.

In addition, the position involves stakeholder engagement, where the candidate will pitch strategies to business investors. It also demands strong expertise in showcasing technology best practices to senior executives, including ED and CEO-level leaders.

Hong Kong-based candidates are warmly welcomed, with relocation support provided for this exciting opportunity.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Architect, develop and refine trading systems to achieve superior reliability and performance standards;
  • Partner with Quant Engineering and Product teams to conceptualize and develop industry-leading solutions with a strong focus on performance optimization;
  • Liaise with stakeholders and senior leadership to gather feedback and deliver both tactical fixes and strategic advancements;
  • Develop, optimize, and sustain high-quality Java code, ensuring modules meet performance and functionality standards;
  • Assess and enhance Java code and middleware solutions to maximize efficiency, identifying performance bottlenecks and crafting effective remedies;
  • Uphold excellence in coding practices, ensuring robust organization, quality, and automation.

The Successful Applicant

Job Requirements (MUST HAVE)

  • Degree/ Master Degree in Computer Science/ related field;
  • A minimum of 12 years of professional experience as a Java Backend Engineer, with expert-level proficiency in Java and its essential JDK classes or packages, including Java Collections and Concurrency;
  • Proven expertise in designing and developing high-performance, low-latency trading systems;
  • Strong understanding of trading products like Spots Trading and various derivatives;
  • Hands-on coding skill in JAVA; (MUST)
