Our client is a leading international wealth management institution serving high net worth and intermediary clients worldwide, providing a range of services including private banking, investment management, fiduciary and brokerage services. With centuries of history and banking expertise, it operates globally. The regional wealth business operates in a fast paced environment in which complex products are offered to sophisticated clients in the Asia region. Continued growth in the Asian region has led to the creation of 2 new Legal Director positions.
Job Description
Based in Singapore, the Legal Directors will provide legal advice to the wealth business across Asia.
Key responsibilities include:
- identifying and managing legal risk, in particular relating to laws and regulations of financial products across Asia region;
- drafting and updating client documentation;
- liaising directly with other members of the regional and global Legal team and business stakeholders to proactively manage the company's legal and reputational risk;
- managing external legal Counsel as appropriate; and
- conduct training for business units and infrastructure areas on relevant legal risk issues.
The Successful Applicant
- A qualified Singapore lawyer or equivalent foreign qualified lawyer with at least 7+years PQE
- Experience of general wealth management/private banking or general banking in a law firm or in an in-house role with another financial institution
- Product knowledge would be advantageous, including OTC derivatives and structured products, funds and other investment products
- You should be a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to liaise effectively with senior management at all levels.
- Chinese language skills would be a plus.
