Allen & Overy is one of a small group of truly global and integrated legal practices combining a local law practice, an international law practice and a US law practice across the Asia network of offices. The Asian operation has offices in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo, Singapore and Bangkok and consists of approximately 550 staff including 50 partners.

Job Description
Reporting to both the Asian Region Managing Partner and Global Finance Director based in London, the CFO is a key member of the management team and is expected to contribute to the development of the firm’s business in the region and to be the first point of contact for partners on financial or business matters. You will have overall responsibility for finance and accounting operations including treasury and tax functions, drive regional budgeting and forecasting cycles and act as a financial advisor to all other regional support functions. Key challenges of the role will be to maintain and improve profitability within the region, assist with the future growth and strategy of the firm in Asia and provide pro-active recommendations on upgrading current financial systems, business processes, policies and procedures. Furthermore you will also ensure that firm-wide initiatives are implemented within the region and drive a range of ad hoc projects.

The Successful Applicant
To be successful, you must be a qualified accountant who has trained or worked in the Big 4 at some point during your career. You will also have gained significant commercial experience, ideally in a business or professional services environment and will currently be holding a role with senior management responsibility across the region. Most importantly you must have a demonstrable track record of integrity, commitment and discretion coupled with the gravitas and strength of character to work closely with the partners of the firm. Excellent English report writing and presentation skills as well as outstanding interpersonal and influencing skills are essential. Ideally, you will have successfully managed remote teams across the region and have a strong knowledge of tax policy within all major Asian jurisdictions. A willingness to travel within the region and to London is a pre-requisite.
