Our client is a world leader in the provision of research products to the global energy industry. Working in partnership with global energy clients, their products and solutions provide forward-looking commercial insight that enables better business decision making. With strong demand for their services in China, a senior Business development Manager is needed.

Job Description

Reporting to the China General Manager you will develop and manage the overall relationships with key clients in China and North Asia for the purpose of:

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop appropriate networks to ensure sales (renewal and new business) targets are met.
  • Focus will primarily be Chinese energy companies, as well as Hong Kong-based financial institutions, at the user/supervisor level
  • Create, implement and manage new client development in China under the direction of the Country Manager.
  • Proactively understand our clients in order to facilitate sales opportunities and then work with the Country Manager to help close the sale
  • Provide support to ensure that the relationship is co-ordinated across sales and support, training, research and consultancy
  • Ensure that there is a high level of communication both internally and externally

The Successful Applicant
Candidates should have a minimum of 6 years experience, preferably in an international business environment, and should have had exposure to a sales role in this time. Experience of working the oil and gas industry, is highly desirable. Applicants from a professional services firm will also be considered. The role requires networking, a desire to interact with people and the ability to work with clients with varied needs. In addition, applicants should be able to make presentations to all levels and should have strong negotiation and selling skills. Whilst reporting directly to the Country Manager, the successful applicant will, over time, be expected to work autonomously to create opportunities and to develop and close deals. Flexibility and resourcefulness as well as a team spirit and results oriented outlook are essential. As are cultural alignment to China and fluency in both English and Mandarin.
