Our client is a top tier international law firm, highly regarded by its competitors and has an extremely well established financial practice.

Job Description

The BDM will be responsible for the management and implementation of marketing and business development activities, projects and processes relating to a large part of the finance practice in Hong Kong. The BDM will work closely with the Head of Marketing and Business Development for Asia Pacific as well as the heads of Banking and Capital Markets to manage, co-ordinate and advise on all marketing and business development related tasks and initiatives including drafting pitches, driving action plans, assisting with the development of client relationships, ideas generation and assisting with the development of client-facing and profile raising campaigns. The role will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • New business proposals
  • Assist in driving cooperation and interaction across the Asia Pacific offices to ensure a cohesive and coordinated service offering
  • Work with partners and BD colleagues to manage key client relationships
  • Develop market knowledge, understanding and insights to identify potential business opportunities and expanding existing business,
  • Assist in providing focus to the delivery and strategic direction of BD activities for the finance practice
  • Help to improve partner and fee earner BD skills through coaching and training
  • Draft and drive budgets, as well as, product and individual business development plans; monitor BD expenditure for the group against annual forecasts

The Successful Applicant

  • Graduate or equivalent with a commitment to, or existing, additional professional marketing/BD qualifications
  • Law firm Marketing and Business Development experience - 5 or more years
  • Client management experience desirable
  • Strong commercial awareness and enthusiasm to deepen understanding of the client base and products
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills with all levels
  • Tenacious and a can do hands on approach – driven by delivery and end results
  • Superb communication skills, written and oral
  • Ability to plan ahead and manage their own and others' (eg partner/fee earner BD team) time efficiently
  • Able to work as a team player as well as independently
