Job Description

Based in Hong Kong and reporting to the Director of Practice Development, you will be responsible to raise and enhance awareness of the firm through business development activities across the region and in particular Hong Kong. In addition you will:

• Partner with attorneys in Asia offices in development, execution and implementation of strategic plans
• Facilitate sharing of practice group developments and information across practice groups and firm
• Conduct client, market and competitive research
• Prepare materials for pitches, RFP responses and business development meetings in a timely manner and to the highest standards
• Identify external marketing opportunities, including speaking opportunities, sponsorships, conferences and writing opportunities
• Coordinate and track business development initiatives, including client visits, meetings and seminars, events, web/e-marketing programs (e.g., teleconferences, webinars, etc.), industry conferences, speaking engagements and PR/media
• Assist with the gathering and recording of case and deal developments in firm knowledge management tools
• Work with the Director of Practice Development and Asia partners as appropriate, to develop and manage marketing budgets for the Asian offices
• Assist in the creation of a high-functioning Asia-based practice development and marketing staff team.

The Successful Applicant

• Bachelor’s Degree. MBA, JD, LLM or MS in a related field, strongly preferred
• 8 + years experience in a business development capacity with a track record of success in a law firm (a must)
• Experience can be practice specific or marketing/business development experience
• Experience in or strong knowledge of corporate transactional work a plus
• Excellent communication, project management and organization skills
• Familiarity with mainland China, Hong Kong, and/or Tokyo legal and business environments
• Mandarin or Japanese language skills a plus
