About Our Client
Maintaining open trade is crucial for sustained economic growth. With the mission of promoting sustainable global trade, our client is a professional not-for-profit organization that focuses on international trade research, trade scholarships & careers and export trade assistance. Through its Export Assistance Program, it supports and coaches small and medium exporters across Asia to connect with buyers worldwide, grow their orders and create employment. To further develop the program, they are looking for a high-caliber Manager to lead the team and enhance the program's effectiveness.
Reporting to the Program Director, you will lead a team in six countries, and manage and develop the program to support the growth of the for-profit Small to Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in emerging Asian markets. You and your team will be accountable for planning, executing and monitoring outcomes to ensure the effectiveness of the program. Through factory visits, you will meet with the management of the SMEs to provide consultation on best practice for buyer marketing, communication and meeting buyers' needs to help them grow their export business. After a supplier competency evaluation, you and your team will work with them to improve their processes. You will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on performance outcomes, budgets and resource allocation, as well as conducting strategic reviews for program improvements. For business development, you will also explore opportunities for new partnerships with trade associations and government export bodies.
The Successful Applicant
To qualify, you will have at least 7 years of merchandising / procurement experience in consumer products - fashion accessories or home products would be an advantage. You will have a degree in international business, merchandising or a related field. You will be open to travel and meeting with clients in emerging markets across Asia. Team leadership and project management skills are required. You will need strong communication skills and good understanding of various cultures and the operations of SMEs. Proven track record in handling complex issues independently is expected. Good command of English is a must.
