As General Manager - Import you will be responsible for the provision of clear commercial leadership and strategic planning. This role will heavily focus on the sourcing, procurement and purchasing of the entire product range as well as identifying new trading opportunities and continuing to broaden the existing product range. To ensure success in this position you will need to work on a continuous improvement plan which will include developing existing supplier relationships, identifying risk to maintain the standard of quality and supply as well as achieving best pricing and optimal commercial outcomes.
The Successful Applicant
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a number of key technical, commercial and interpersonal requirements. You will display a resume that showcases your obvious subject-matter expertise in food sourcing and purchasing; ideally managing a short-life products range in a chilled cold-store environment; fruit, vegetable, agriculture, dairy for example would be advantageous. Your will demonstrate sourcing and procurement expertise working with a number of different suppliers across a number of different countries of origin. In addition to your sourcing expertise you will be a specialist in logistics and supply chain operations required to support the needs of a large global import company. Obvious operational competence and skills will be required to ensure that you effectively manage the product supply budget, operational costs as well as detailed analysis to identify variances and excellent P&L management. Whilst applications from overseas are welcome, you will need to demonstrate the capability to settle within China with a commitment to support the organisation over a medium-long term rather than a short tenure. Chinese speaking is an advantage but not essential.
