About Our Client
Our client is a large UK law firm. This is a regional role covering APAC and reporting to the headquarters in London.
In this role you will be responsible for managing all conflicts and other compliance issues for mandates to be undertaken by the Firm, taking into account legal / regulatory requirements, firm policy, as well as reputational and commercial conflict implications. Accordingly, the role includes the following responsibilities:
Assessing whether new mandates can be accepted in the context of current conflicts and other regulatory rules, as well as internal policies, across the full range of practice areas within the firm. This will often require liaising with partners and lawyers in the context of a range of related mandates, many of which are highly complex transactions.
Where potential issues are identified, establishing whether any options are available to the Firm to accept a mandate, or that it must be declined.
Liaising with key partners to assist with resolving potential commercial or reputational issues for the Firm in the context of potential new mandates.
Dealing with ad hoc questions/queries relating to conflicts of interest and other engagement risk issues.
The Successful Applicant
The ideal candidate is a qualified lawyer with experience of working in a commercial law environment
Previous experience with the management of conflicts and other compliance issues is preferable. You should show ability to gather and analyse information and to use the results of that analysis to make effective decisions and find innovative solutions to problem; ability to communicate persuasively and clearly with all members of the Firm, both orally and in writing.
