Michael Page Recruitment Consultant Success Stories

Vera Tang,
Manager, Beijing Sales & Marketing, China

“If you are ambitious and hard working, it’s possible to be very successful at a young age at Michael Page.”
- Vera Tang

I have worked in the recruitment industry ever since I graduated from university. I was hired by Michael Page in Amsterdam in 2009 as a consultant and was promoted three times in my first 11 months. I now run the Sales and Marketing division for North China.

The training opportunities at Michael Page have helped me to progress both professionally and personally. I have already received training in sales, interviewing, time management, presenting, leadership and portfolio management. At Michael Page, it’s a ‘work hard, play hard’ culture. Our targets are challenging and the environment is competitive, but hard work is always recognised, appreciated and rewarded. Working with my team is the best part of my day, as my colleagues are also my friends.

Looking ahead, my goal is to become the first Chinese Director at Michael Page. I would be happy to work anywhere in the world, which is why I’m grateful to work at a company that offers so many global opportunities.

I began at Michael Page as a graduate and I am glad that I joined a company that is open to teaching developing graduates into recruitment consultants.

Training is structured as the job develops so you learn the skills needed to progress your career. This includes soft skills in addition to technical competencies in areas like interviewing and negotiation.

The people at Michael Page work hard and play hard. You have to want to do your best and also have fun at the same time. I want to be a part of growing our engineering business in Asia so that I can put all my training to practice.

I joined the Michael Page team in 2009 after working for a fortune 500 company and a German management consulting firm. I was looking to expand my skills and develop my career with a company that offered good training opportunities and the chance to progress.
