Flats in Tokyo vary a lot in price, depending on size and how central they are. A decent one-bedroom flat could cost upwards of ¥ 250,000 with a two-bedroom flat in a central location upwards of ¥ 750,000. Like finding a place to live anywhere, it will test your patience. Popular areas for foreigners to live include Hiroo, Ebisu, Daikanyama, and Roppongi.
Food and Drink
There is a great variety of food on offer ranging from stand-up noodle bars (inexpensive) to expensive hotel restaurants.
- Many people pick up pre-packed lunch boxes from the street vendors at lunch time and these will cost about ¥ 500 - ¥ 800
- A meal for two with a bottle of wine will cost upwards of ¥ 10,000
- A bottle of beer in a bar will cost ¥ 800 - ¥ 1,000 (¥ 500 during happy hour)
- A pint of milk and a loaf of bread will cost around ¥ 300
