Salary rates in Hong Kong are generally good with the added bonus of a flat tax rate of 15%. People in Hong Kong are paid on a monthly basis and this is usually the case for contract / temporary positions. The majority of roles are of a more temp-to-perm nature, so not suitable to those wishing to supplement a holiday with a short-term temp job for extra cash.
A move to Hong Kong must be looked at in conjunction with the career opportunities it can provide. The smaller market place gives you the chance to work hard, prove yourself and be recognised where sometimes you might be 'one of a number' in the larger European or US offices.
