Tax & National Insurance - UK
Everyone who works in the UK is liable to pay National Insurance and Income Tax. The amount that you have to pay will depend on how much you earn. When you arrive in the UK, you will need to apply for a National Insurance number. This number will also register you for state benefits, including free hospital and medical services.
As a temp or contractor in the UK, you can effectively pay less tax by working through a Limited Company to maximise your earnings. A Limited Company is a separate legal entity, recognised by the HM Revenue & Customs, formerly known as the Inland Revenue (UK tax office). For more information, let our Global Opportunities team introduce you to a specialist in this field.
You can also find out more information on National Insurance numbers and tax on the HM Revenue & Customs website: www.hmrc.gov.uk
